Cristino Rosario
Cristino started his work 40 years ago. Based in San Cristobal Dominican Republic his work portrays birds and fauna of the dominican republic.
His often speaks of the value in his work not only from the creation itself but for what it has enabled him to do , provide for his family and the education of his children and grandchildren.
Cristino depicts birds and Fauna through his work, Cacao trees are of particular interest to him since he grew around a cacao plantation , he says most of his creations come through dreams.
We visited Cristino at his workshop to hear about his work and how he got started
“I was inspired by the trees in my youth to build the cacao sculptures you see here”
Cristino is a multiple award winning artisan, and has been widelly recognized by the dominican govermetn for the high quality in his pieces.
We met Cristino via the Artistisan center in San Cristobal an institution that promotes sustainability and the development of arts in the region. Cristino has his workshop here and we visit him often to handpick the pieces displayed at the store.
